Well known in this neck of the woods with his group the 'Champagne Charlies' and on occasion 'Ronnie Caryl'. John comes from a musical dynasty with his brothers currently touring the world with the Classic Rock Show & Britfloyd.

New Year 2012….New Bedrock ! Inspired by their newest member, veteran keyboards man Steve Coley, this year we’ll see many new classic dance numbers featuring in the Bedrock playlist. Bedrock front man, Andy Porter, commented “Our rhythm section would be the envy of most bands and with Steve on keyboards we now have the added versatility to really get into Soul and Funk for the first time. ROUTE 403 is a trio of British musicians living and working in S W France and sometimes beyond. Featuring Guitar, Double Bass, Keyboards and cool three-part harmony vocals their repertoire covers Jazz and Swing, sultry Ballads and foot stomping Jump-Jive and Blues. And in their period clothes and retro accessories they look as sharp as they sound as they whisk their audience back to a time when swing music was ultra cool.
The trio were formed at the start of 2009 and since then they have been gigging non-stop around South West France and have gained a well earned reputation as an energetic and enthusiastic outfit who never fail to make a strong connection with their audience via their own very individual brand of Swing.
Their latest 14 track CD 'On the outskirts of town' will be available at forthcoming gigs.

Saturday 24th The R'N'B Axes

Les Rythme & Blues AXES formed in the Civray area just a couple of months ago

 and the pressure was on immediately when they were offered a gig at Angoulême’s > prestigious Kennedy Pub, where they went down a storm.

 And now they’re at the equally prestigious Dixieland, so be there for some High Energy r’n’b.

Dave Blake on guitar, cement-mixer vocals and harp,

 grew up near Chicago and sucked in blues with his mother’s milk. Back in London, he toured the UK and Europe with various bands until becoming a founder member of Ruthless Blues

(still marching) featuring ex-Yardbirds drummer Jim McCarty. In France since ’89, he’s done years with the Stoney River Band.

Somewhat younger, from (Old) York where he gigged on guitar and bass, > Lewis Hall plays bass and sings – his high-profile bass lines and raucous vocals > provide the other frontline for the Axes. At the back

, driving the band and locking the sound together is Mat Kutub, aka Matthedrummer and more recently, in an Axes writeup in Sortir magazine, he’s been christened Mat le Bat. A graduate of the esteemed Drumtech school in London, he’s a respected drum teacher and regular gigger. Despite appearances, he rarely bites. Both Dave and Mat are determined to do something about Lewis’s taste in shirts.
